Promoting Gender Equality in Data Governance and Policymaking towards domestication of the AU Data Policy Framework.

summary

In response to the African Union’s adoption of the AU Data Policy Framework (AU DPF) in 2022, this project seeks to address the limited implementation strategies and institutional capacities for inclusive data governance in Africa. Current data governance efforts are often dominated by private sector interests, with minimal public participation and limited representation of diverse gender perspectives. Pollicy’s Afro-feminist approach addresses this gap through a framework rooted in justice, ethical practices, participatory governance, and strengthened institutions. The project focuses on shaping equitable data ecosystems through gender transformative policy frameworks aligned with the AU DPF.
