This report explores the digital threats Muslim Women Human Rights Defenders (MWHRDs) face while working on gender, and family law in the Greater Horn of Africa (GHoA). It maps out the overall challenges within the digital ecosystem in the region, and delves into the country, religious and culture specific issues, threats, challenges and needs of MWHRDs within the region. The report documents the main perpetrators of violence, how they act, and the ways these actions affect the safe, and open use of digital technologies, media and services by MWHRDs. This report was funded by MUSAWAH with support from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the We Cannot Wait consortium. (In)Visible, further expands on policy, advocacy, funding and technology innovation opportunities that exist within the GHoA,and for activists in general. It also identifies some personal security steps MWHRDs can take to protect themselves while engaging in online spaces. Authors: Mardiya Siba Yahaya and Neema Iyer
