Art and Covid Misinformation Project

  • Status
summary

There has been an increase in health-related misinformation and disinformation specifically on the coronavirus disease, the vaccine, and other issues relating to the virus. State and non-state actors have come up with initiatives and strategies to combat this infodemic. Paint the Change and Health Studio with support from the Open Society are teaming up with Pollicy to work on a campaign using Art to fight covid-19 related misinformation and disinformation in local communities of Kampala (Kawempe) and Mbale towns. Our "Art and Misinformation" project targets local communities with an emphasis on low socioeconomic communities that are “socially excluded” and have limited or no access to information. The key activities for this project are two (2) co-creation/educational workshops and along with the installation of 2 murals with the participants. This targets the general public i.e. school going children, parents, persons living with Disabilities, and elderly people.

Using Art to Improve Access to Information on COVID-19

Pollicy in partnership with Health Studio Kenya has been working on a campaign using data and art-driven interventions to counter COVID-19 related misinformation while supporting the uptake of accurate information in local and low internet communities. Here is a recap of our activity in Bwaise II Paris, Nakamero Zone, Kawempe Division in Kampala district.
